PREACHING THE GOOD NEWS IN ANGOLA

Comments by the Faithful & Discreet Slave class about those serving where the need is greater, specifically  in their relationship to the progress of the worldwide Kingdom Preaching work:

"What accounts for such progress? Many things. Missionaries trained at the Watchtower Bible School of Gilead and, more recently, upwards of 20,000 graduates of the Ministerial Training School have made a huge contribution. So have the many Witnesses who at their own expense have moved to lands where the need for Kingdom publishers is greater. Such self-sacrificing Christians—men and women, young and old, single and married—play a significant role in preaching the Kingdom message throughout the earth.  They are greatly appreciated."

4,000 delegates attended International Convention in San Diego, California, USA, from several different lands. Here is an experience that was related about ANGOLA which emphasizes how much work there is yet to be done in areas where the need is great.  In an isolated area where there are only 4 publishers they placed 350 magazines, 78 Knowledge books, and 80 Require brochures.

On the second day they had gone to all the houses in the area except to the local priest. They went to his home and witnessed to him. He accepted a Knowledge book and he used it in his sermons in his church. He also told the members of his church to listen to the witnesses and if they had any questions to ask them.

A sister met a man in the door to door work. She placed a KN35 tract with him which he began to read immediately. The sister made a return visit on the man, but he was in the hospital at the time. She tried calling on him again and this time she found out that the man had been having problems with the demons.

The sister said a prayer to Jehovah and she showed him some points from Chapter 12 of the Knowledge book. The man excused himself and a few minutes later came back with all of his spiritistic things and burned them in front of the sister!!

Brief History of Angola:

Bantu tribes inhabited Angola for many centuries before the Portuguese arrived in the 16th century.

And then, orchestrated by the Portuguese, the slave trade between Brazil and Angola began, and it is said to be responsible for the exportation of over three million native Africans (against their will) to the Portuguese colony of Brazil.

In the 19th century Angola became a colony of Portugal, and then an overseas province, and later its independence was gained in  1975.

Angola is one of the largest countries in Africa, with huge diamond and oil resources (worth billions), but decades of civil war has ravished the country and so today most Angolans live in poverty.

Angola is one of the world's poorest countries, with life expectancy (40 years) among the lowest in Africa.
