  SANTIAGO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (STI)

 

Santiago Airport (STI) is a lovely new safe international airport .  If you are going to La Vega or Santiago it would be the perfect airport to come in through.  Also, if you have arrangements for airport pick up to take you other areas in this part of the country or to Samaná',  it is perfect.  However, if you do not want to make arrangements for airport pick up, then it would be better to use Santo Domingo International airport as there are taxis to accessible bus stations for other parts of the country from there (if you arrival early enough for scheduled times).  

 

 PUERTO PLATA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (POP)

 

This is a nice airport to fly into for towns or cities in this part of the country.  A very scenic ride to Rio San Juan, Nagua, Peninsula of Samaná. 

 

SANTO DOMINGO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (SDQ)

 

The Branch is located approximately a half hour from this airport.  So would be a good airport to fly in through if you would like to visit the Branch upon arrival.

 

 

SAMANÁ (EL CATEY) INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT ((AZS)

 

This is a new airport, completed November 2006, for servicing the northeastern part of the country. It is located between Nagua & the beginning of the Peninsula of Samanáá and is about 45-60 minutes from the little town of Samaná.

 

 

PUNTA CANA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (PUJ)

 

This airport is located in the far east of the country near the eastern coast of the mainland and is quite far from most areas of the rest of the country.  It would be ideal for flying into the country if you were going to Higuey where one of the missionary homes is located, but not for other parts of the country. This airport was built, principally,  to service the large resorts along the eastern coast of the island.  Airlines often offer very cheap airfares arriving and departing through PUJ, however,  taxi service from this airport to Santo Domingo and other parts is very expensive.
