Mexico is divided into 31 states (estados) and a federal district.

States:  Each has its own constitution & its citizens elect a governor.

Population: 2006 est: 107,784,179

Economy:  According to World Bank, Mexico ranks 13th in the world as regard to GDP & has the fourth largest per capita income in Latin America just after Argentina, Chile & Costa Rica & is firmly established as an upper middle-income country.

Languages: Spanish (official); 62 Indigenous languages. Also Non-indigenous languages: English, German, Arabic, French, Chinese, & Korean.

Religion: Mexico is predominantly Roman Catholic (about 89% of the population), with 6% adhering to various Protestant faiths (mostly Pentecostal)), and the remaining 5% of the population adhering to other religions. 

Some of the country's Catholics (notably those of indigenous background) syncretize [merge/blend] Catholicism with various elements of Aztec or Mayan religions.
